The City of Ellsworth has an excellent water system that pumps water from seven wells, two of which are located near the water plant and five additional wells within two miles of Ellsworth. The City stores this water in three water towers for use in homes and businesses throughout the City.   The City's water towers have a combined capacity up to 1,050,000 gallons of water.

Water Treatment

The original City of Ellsworth water softening plant was constructed in 1950.  In 2003, the City completed a $2,600,000 upgrade to the water plant to increase capacity from 720,000 gallons per day to 1,440,000 gallons per day and to ensure the water meets current and future EPA and KDHE regulations.  The City pumps an average of approximately 400,000 gallons per day with max summer usage exceeding 700,000 gallons per day.
