Position Summary: City of Ellsworth is accepting applications for City Clerk. Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and public relation skills needed. Office and accounting experience are required. The City Clerk’s duty includes but are not limited to overseeing utility billing and collections, maintaining all city files, preparing ordinances and resolutions, assisting the city administrator with preparation of the annual budget as well as grant/project administration. The City Clerk must reside in Ellsworth County. This position is exempt from FLSA. The City of Ellsworth is an equal opportunity employer.
Experience: Two to four years of similar or related experience is preferred. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within one year of employment.
Education: A college degree in Business Administrations, Public Administration or Public Management is preferred. This employee should possess City Clerk and Municipal Finance Officer Certifications.
- A thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, computers, bond regulations, budget preparation, and a working knowledge of mathematics is preferred.
- This employee must be able to operate computers, printers, calculators, telephone systems, and other office equipment.
- The ability to prepare reports, memos, agendas, grant applications, budgets and other documents, to interpret data, to understand and anticipate problems, and to read and interpret ordinances, agendas, legal documents, and other written instructions is required.
- This employee should possess excellent supervisory, managerial, organizational, public relation, and oral and written communication skills.
Compensation: By city ordinance the pay range for this position is $3,500 - $6,000 per month. Exact pay is dependent on experience and qualifications. The city offers a full range of benefits package including health, dental, vision, and KPERS.
